MIA Insight / MIA GEO

Where you land in the answer.

When someone asks an answer engine about your category, something gets named and something gets cited. GEO reads where your brand sits in that answer — buried, mentioned, named, or cited with a link — and what the answer drew on instead.

MIA / INSIGHT / GEO · 4 POSITIONSPosition, never a score

  1. Not mentioned

The answer covers the category and your brand is not in it.

  2. Mentioned in passing

Named in a list, with nothing attached to the name.

  3. Named in the answer

Carried in the body of the answer as part of its reasoning.

  4. Cited with a link

Named, and sourced back to a page of yours.

Four positions, drawn as one stack. It shows where a brand can sit inside an answer — it is not a reading of any brand, and there is no number on it.

The boundary, up front

What GEO reads, and what it will never tell you.

The second column is not a footnote. A capability that reads a system it does not control has to say where its knowledge stops.

What GEO reads

Which answers name your brand, where in the answer it lands, and what the answer cited in its place. Every read keeps the prompt, the surface and the date it was taken, so two reads can be compared without guessing what changed between them.

What GEO won't pretend to know

There is no score, no percentage and no ranking number, because none of those exist to be read — answer engines do not publish a position and do not explain their choice. GEO also cannot see personalized or signed-in answers, and it cannot promise that a change will move an answer. What it can do is show the gap: the evidence the answer had nothing to draw on.

Position record

MIA Insight / MIA GEO

Claim

Being in the answer is a position, and a position has a reason.

  • A read records where the brand appeared in the answer, and what the answer cited in its place.

    Position · in answer

    Source · public answer text

  • A gap is described as missing evidence — the page, the fact or the source the answer had nothing to draw on.

    Position · not mentioned

    Source · answer citations

  • Every read keeps its prompt, its surface and its date, so the next read is a comparison rather than an impression.

    Position · per read

    Source · read record

GEO reports position, not a score, and there is nothing to submit on this page. Answer engines change their own behaviour without notice, so a read describes what was true when it was taken.

Answer engines already talk about your category. GEO shows you what they used — and what they skipped.

GEO is one of the three ways MIA reads a market. All three live in MIA Insight.
